Fax Machine Dead, Paper Fire Plan, Fire Starter, Afrika, Hatch, Tactical, Radar, Animal, Traffic, Big Bionic, Gotham, Atlantis, Fiction… We weren’t too sure on our name for a while, but we were always sure what we would do – take amazing ideas and products to market.

We launched with the tagline “Launch. Refresh. Startup.” In that we launch new products, we refresh brands for digital, and we help startups do business. Today our capabilities run a little broader, collectively everything we do is Digital Branding.

Although Skyrocket flies off the tongue, visually it is a long word. In pursuit of a tight little application, we adapted Helvetica Neue Condensed for our premiering wordmark.

Now that we have lived as Skyrocket for a while, we are a little less insecure about the character length, and have since gone the other way with our new brand featuring a European inspired, extended sans with plenty of kerning for breathing room. Naturally the thruster flame has been reworked to compliment the lighter weight.

Lots of rockets, only one Skyrocket

Rockets are pretty commonplace these days, particularly in the startup realm with all kinds of entities promising imminent flight. For us Skyrocket is much more than the desired outcome of an engagement – it is aspiration, it is an alignment of goals with those of the organizations we work with, it is a commitment to unparalleled levels of service and quality, it is work that breathes purpose and is responsive to change – it is design for tomorrow.

Although we love stocks, inks, foils, the art and history of the printing press, our commitment to digital is outright, selecting a set of fonts that were born for maximum clarity on any digital device. Chosen weights from Novecento and Lato serve to provide a hierarchy of messaging that we hope feels natural and easy to follow. The palette is still black, white, grey and Skyrocket Red.

Our new site feels somewhat like a coming of age story – it looks good on all devices, it is fast, it is simple. These qualities are and always will be the quest of the Skyrocket Design Team. We will constantly be the cutting edge, our site and brand will always evolve to acclimatize to what is the powerful now.
